You are familiar with the automotive industry and interested in working in an environment where you are constantly on the move, completing various tasks, and helping others.
The Service Writer will be responsible for assisting customers at the front counter, providing them with information on performed and recommended services, and you will coordinate the day-to-day administrative and clerical functions in our Service Department.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist all customers promptly and courteously, handling customer issues while ensuring high customer satisfaction.
- Gather and interpret information on repairs, open work orders, and promote our services and encourage repeat business.
- Continually follow up on the progress of repairs to ensure the unit is ready when promised; advise customers throughout the process on the status of repairs and any potential delays if the job will not be completed on time.
- Advise customers of any extra work that may be required, ensuring it is authorized prior to having work completed.
- Process repair order payments.
- Create and maintain accurate and orderly vehicle history files, assist with invoicing, and perform other administrative duties as requested.
- Responsible for carefully reviewing work orders to ensure all charges are properly documented and all parts/shop supplies are accounted for before closing promptly.
- Assist the Garage Manager in assigning work and booking services.
- Provided backup for the Parts Technician when needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
- Participate in the company health and safety program.
- Perform other duties as required.

- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office required.
- Knowledge and/or experience with automotive parts and automotive servicing methods.
Education and Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma.
- 2 years experience as a service writer preferred.
- Experience with Mitchell Inventory System an asset.
- Must be able to work in a shop environment with moderate noise and exposure to inclement weather at times.
- Lifting up to 50lbs; regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands or arms.
